  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, halved
  • 4 sprigs thyme
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 4 to 5 cups olive oil
